About Law through Media

Working in pairs, students participating in the advanced legal English course Law through Media choose a topic from one or more broad categories relating to different aspects of media coverage and the way the law, the instututions, and those involved in the administration of justice are depicted and perceived.

During the course, students present their topic during a 60-minute interactive session in which the other course participants are the live audience. Following this, the topic is consolidated into a podcast episode of around 15 minutes which they then record in the univerity's recording studio.

Students are given the help they need to prepare, record and improve their podcasts, but are entirely responsible for the content and style of the presentation and podcast episode. They also edit their recordings themselves to produce a final version for publication.

The course Law through Media was introduced in April 2022, and the first podcast series with six episodes was published in September 2022. New episodes are produced each semester and published in April and September.
